HAL 9000 Clock
HAL 9000, the iconic computer from Stanley Kubrick's classic "2001: A Space Odyssey" is now reduced to a talking clock. Press the illuminated button and HAL announces the time or, at the flick of a switch, delivers a random sound clip from one of 200 old movies or TV shows.
Other gratuitous features include hourly announcement of time and a motion sensor to light up the button when you enter the room. Powered by wall wart as well as LiPo rechargeable battery. Built with an Arduino Uno, Adafruit Wave Shield and amplified speaker, A mashup of creations by the ever-inventive Phillip Burgess. HAL's voice is by Bentley Michaels. It also makes a nifty button for my garage door opener. |
