      Pothole GPS

This is an Arduino-based GPS data logge, constructed from a GPS module and shield available here. Operated by battery or automobile power, it logs latitude and longitude of current location to a memory card, which is later downloaded and converted to Google map or Google Earth format. It was built to assist a local municipality to locate and document potholes and other road surface defects, assistance they neither requested nor, I assume, much appreciated. Ain't technology grand?

Also capable of recording speed and altitude, a GPS logger makes an interesting toy for hikers, cyclists, skiers and climbers.
